    Ethiopia Rakes in $13 Million from Power Exports to Sudan Djibouti

    Ethiopia has, in the last two months of the its fiscal year, earned $13 million from exporting electricity to Sudan and Djibouti.

    According to Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP), the state power utility, the country earned $5.61 million from exporting 112.36 million kWh electricity to Sudan and $7.42 million from exporting 120.39 million kWh electricity to Djibouti.

    Initially, Ethiopia planned to earn more than $18.55 million by exporting more than 349.56 million kilowatt hours of electricity to Sudan and Djibouti in the last two months.

    However, it only managed to export 232.76 million kilowatt hours of electricity and earned $13.04 million, achieving only 70.29% of its planned earnings.

    The total electricity sold was 116.8 million kilowatt hours which is 33.42% less than what was planned.
