The Ethiopian aviation authority has today approved the Boeing 737 MAX to return to Ethiopia skies once again.
This is after the aircraft was banned, after being involved in the country’s worst-ever air disaster.
The aircraft had been grounded worldwide in March 2019 when an Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX crashed near Addis Ababa. It was the second of two fatal 737 MAX crashes within just five months.
Both crashes were attributed to a faulty automated flight-control system known as ‘MCAS’
It was Ethiopia’s devastating 737 MAX crash that confirmed to the world that there was a major, fatal flaw with the jet.
3 years later, Ethiopia & most other nations are satisfied with Boeing’s safety upgrades & fixes to the 737 MAX, and the jet is returning to the skies.
The Boeing 737 Max has been banned since the 2019 crash of an Ethiopian Airlines flight that killed 157 people.
But the authority decided to grant a green light for the flight in Ethiopian air space after Boeing 737 Max took packages of fixes for safety.
