Equity Bank chairman Mr Peter Munga and fruit juice processor Del Monte Kenya are fighting over the ownership of 75 acres of land in which Mr Munga was planning to build a girls’ school in Thika as from January 2016.
In a notice placed on the local dailies,Del Monte says Mr Munga has invaded its land, adding that the matter was the subject of a court fight.
“This property is the subject of court proceedings instituted by Del Monte Kenya against the Pioneer International School Limited for an unlawful trespass onto its property,” Read the Del Monte notice. “Pioneer Group’s plan to start the school have come under question as result of the legal proceedings.”
This comes barely few days after Murang’a and Kiambu counties refused to renew the Juice Processor’s land leases arguing that the company is not benefiting the locals. this prompted Delmonte to sue the two counties, saying that thousands of jobs and investments worth billions of shillings are at risk.
