The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has retained fuel prices for another month despite a jump in the cost of shipping the commodity, and a decrease in the landed cost.
Thus, super petrol will retail at KSh129.72 per litre, diesel at KSh110.60 per litre, and Kerosene at KSh103.54
EPRA set the maximum prices in Mombasa at KSh127.46, KSh108.36, and Ksh101.29 for petrol, diesel and kerosene respectively. In Kisumu, the pump prices will remain constant at KSh130.12 (Petrol), KSh111.30 (Diesel) and KSh104.26 (Kerosene).
The landed cost of imported Super petrol decreased by 0.86% from KSh68,276 per cubic metre in December to KSh67,825.18 in January. However, Diesel increased by 7.11% from $565.92 per cubic metre to $606.16 per cubic metre. Kerosene decreased by 7.04% to KSh60,732.29 per cubic metre.
Consumers would have paid KSh133.89 for a litre of diesel in the absence of the petroleum subsidy, which cut kerosene and super petrol costs by KSh15.88 and KSh14.53 respectively.
Kenya introduced the subsidy on 14th April 2021, seeking to reduce the high cost of basic items.
