    EPRA Lowers Kerosene, Petrol Price

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reduced marginally the prices of Kerosene and Super Petrol easing pressure on households currently confronted by high cost of living.

The regulator however did not effect any changes on Diesel in a monthly review which took effect on Friday midnight. Super Petrol will retail at Sh194.68 and Sh195.53 per litre while Kerosene will retail at Sh169.48 from Sh173.44 per litre, Diesel price remains at Sh179.67 per litre.

“Taking into account the weighted average cost of refined petroleum products, the changes in the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices in Nairobi are Super Petroleum and Kerosene decrease by Sh0.85 per litre and Sh3.96 per litre respectively while diesel remains unchanged,” said EPRA in a statement.

The Authority recently came under criticism after it increased fuel prices early July following signing into law the Finance Act 2023. The new law which took effect on 1st July increased VAT on petroleum products. Pursuant to the Act whose implementation has since temporarily been blocked by the High Court, VAT on Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene has been revised from 8 per cent to 16 per cent.

Expect new fuel prices, says EPRA – Kenyan Wallstreet
