    EPRA Increases Diesel Prices as Kerosene Prices Fall

    The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority ( EPRA) has increased the fuel prices in its latest reviews.

    The authority has announced that Super petrol and Diesel prices will increase by KSh0.28 per litre and KSh2.44 per litre respectively as of midnight 14th November 2019.

    On the other hand, kerosene prices will decrease by ksh 3.31 per litre in Nairobi. Therefore Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will now retail at ksh 112.81, ksh 103.04 and ksh 100.64 respectively in Nairobi.

    The cost of import has contributed to the changes in the fuel prices, alongside the slight depreciation of the Kenyan shilling relative to the US dollar.

    In a statement issued by EPRA, diesel cost increased by 4.38%, kerosene decreased by 5.61%. The monthly mean of the US dollar to Kenya shilling exchange rate also depreciated by 0.13%.

    The fuel prices are inclusive of 8% Value Added Tax and in it is in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2018 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 109 of 9th July 2019.
