Brazilian planemaker, Embraer delivered only four commercial planes in the second quarter, compared with 26 in the same period last year, occasioned by the global slump in travel due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The planemaker also delivered 13 executive jets in the quarter, compared with 25 in the same period last year.
Embraer’s backlog stood at $15.4 billion, a slight drop compared with three months ago when it was valued at $15.9 billion.
Embraer holds a 60% share of the global regional jet market, delivering its 1,600th E-Jet to Switzerland’s Helvetic Airlines, an E190-E2.
Meanwhile, Boeing only delivered four jets in May 2020, 87% less than it delivered in May last year. The deliveries were the company’s lowest monthly deliveries in six decades. In April 2020, the company only delivered six jets.
On the other hand, Airbus delivered 36 aircraft in June, up from 24 in May and a low of 14 in April. For the first half of 2020, deliveries fell by 49% to 196 planes, compared with 389 for the same period last year.
