Equity Bank has signed a Sh 5.7 billion partnership with European Investment Bank which will see Kenyan agricultural companies access loans with maturities of up to 7 years.
Equity Bank Managing Director Polycarp Igathe signed the Kenya Agriculture Value Chain Facility, which is a new European Union initiative launched to develop and modernize Kenyan smallholder farming. Other banks are expected to join the agriculture sector financing programme.
The facility is expected to help these companies to expand their businesses with local smallholders and modernize and handle major investment challenges hindering the expansion of the agricultural sector.
