Edna Otieno Appointed Diageo’s Human Resource Director WEF 1st July

Edna Otieno has been appointed as Diageo’s Human Resource Director in Great Britain, with effect from 1st July 2021. She becomes the first Kenyan to take up that role.

Prior to her appointment, Edna Otieno served as East African Breweries Ltd Group Human Resources Director.

Previously, Edna Otieno also served as Airtel Africa’s Head of Organisation Effectiveness and Reward in 2014. She later served as Head of People and Organisation at Mars Wrigley East Africa in 2015. She later re-joined Diageo in August 2017 as Group Human Resources Director, EABL.

Diageo plc is a British multinational beverage alcohol company. Its headquarters are in London. It operates in close to 180 countries and produces in more than 140 sites worldwide. It is the world’s largest producer of Scotch whisky.

The company has a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. It also has a secondary listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

In July last year, Diageo Plc announced the acquisition of EABL shares held by Diageo Holdings Netherlands B.V and Guinness Overseas Limited. It thus became the majority shareholder in EABL at 50.3% through its subsidiary, Diageo Kenya Limited.
