Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has received a solar license to produce power to meet its electricity needs at its Willowvale offices in Harare. Willowvale complex is Econet’s hub for its switching and network operations infrastructure.
The Zimbabwe Energy Regulation Authority (ZERA) said the license will allow the leading mobile telecom to build, operate, own, and maintain the Econet Willowvale Solar plant which will generate and supply electricity for the company’s consumption.
Econet is committed to going green and embracing clean energy at its offices and at its infrastructure sites across Zimbabwe.
Econet is Zimbabwe’s largest mobile network operator with various switches in Bulawayo and Harare and with more than 4,600 base stations across the country.
