East African Breweries Limited’s (EABL) Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Angela Namwakira as the new Company Secretary with effect from 24th October 2023.

Angela, a Partner at Adili Corporate Services Kenya, who now joins the EABL Board, is a corporate governance and legal professional with over 15 years of experience acting as Company Secretary to various reputable multinational, locally quoted companies, non-profit organizations as well as small and medium-sized enterprises spanning multiple sectors.

She has experience as a corporate governance expert and corporate secretarial practitioner and regularly advises on company law, statutory and regulatory compliance, strategic planning, corporate structuring, and immigration matters.

Angela holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of Nairobi, is an advocate, a practicing Certified Secretary, and an accredited Governance Auditor. She is also a Member of the Women on Boards Network(WOBN)

A statement from EABL Board Chairman Dr. Martin Oduor-Otieno also announced the resignation of Kathryne Maundu as Company Secretary with effect from 23rd October 2023.

Maundu has resigned from four listed firms, namely EABL, Safaricom, BAT Kenya and Eaagads Limited, all in the last few weeks. She has been in the board rooms as company secretary at BAT and EABL since 2020, Safaricom since February 2016, and on Eaagad’s board for the last four years.

The listed brewer closed its trading on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at KSh 131.50 per share on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), recording a 0.2% drop from its previous closing price of KSh 131.75. EABL began 2023 with a share price of KSh 167.50 but has since shed 21.5% off that price.
