The East African Breweries PLC (EABL), which is engaged in branded alcohol beverage business has reported a growth of 23% to Kshs 54.9 billion in net sales for the half-year ended 31 December 2021.
The listed company’s net profit grew 131% to Kshs 8.7 billion mainly driven by the higher net sales as a result of the re-opening of bars in Kenya in the second quarter. The brewer said the interim profit after tax was the highest in the last 5 years.
The group’s cash and cash equivalents rose by 185% to Kshs 7.2 billion.
The company’s board of directors recommended an interim dividend of Kshs 3.75 per share against nil dividends for the same period in 2020.
