Garden City Mall in Nairobi is set to have a business park worth $540 million which will be an addition to the existing commercial and residential land uses. East African Breweries Ltd (EABL) has already booked office space on the business part for its corporate offices. The project is being funded by Actis, a UK private equity fund.
The business part will cover more than 25,000 square metres of office space including a healthcare, more than 400 mid-market residential units, and two hotels.
Chris Coulson, Garden City Managing Director said the company was pleased to be breaking ground with 60 percent of its office space pre-leased to EABL.
“We are delighted to be finally breaking ground on this space having on board our first clients, EABL with 60% of the space already pre-leased to them,” he said.
EABL is expected to move into the new offices in the second quarter of 2019. The company has leased between 2,000 and 3,000 square metres of space.
The Project’s Construction Phases
The construction of the business park will be done in two phases. The first phase will cover more than 12,500 square meters of Gross Leasable Area (GLA) spread over two buildings.
The office complex will include green spaces and a pedestrian-friendly boulevard linking it to the mall’s existing commercial section, and 215 residential units, and a 3-acre central park.
