The National Bank of Kenya has appointed Dr. James Obuya Bagaka as a non-executive director of the board. The appointment came into effect on 22 October 2020.
Dr Bagaka brings 12 years of experience in public finance and budgeting, public administration, policy development, strategy development, and governance. He previously worked as the technical lead on governance and institutional strengthening for a Department for International Development (DFID) funded program; The Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED).
He has consulted widely for governments in Kenya, South Sudan, and Somalia beside working with USAID, DFID, European Union, UNDP, and the World Bank. He currently provides advisory and consultancy services to public and private organizations.
Dr Bagaka has a PhD in Public Administration from the Northern Illinois University, and a M.A in Public Administration from Minnesota State University in the USA. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Nairobi.
He is a member of the Commonwealth Association of Public Administration and Management and also serves as a non-executive director of KCB Group.
