    Turnover on the equity markets today stood at KES 418.867Mn. this was down 18% from Wednesday’s KES 511.418Mn. The number of shares traded stood at 21 million with a total of 1,071 deals being executed. Current market capitalization stands at KES 2,052.678 Bn.

    The (NASI) NSE All Share Index was down by 0.09 points to stand at 145.63. The benchmark NSE 20 Index was also down by 11.85 points to close at 3,977.85.

    Something to note also is that Kenya Airways and Standard Chartered bank were dropped from the NSE 20 Index last month and were replaced by Diamond Trust Bank and CIC Insurance.

    Safaricom was the most traded counter for the session, note that Safaricom is expected to release its full year earnings on May 11th. Safaricom closed the session with a weighted average price of 16.90. Have a look at the YTD chart below.

    Fixed Income Market

    The debt market recorded a turnover of KES 4.017Bn. in Thursdays trading session, 30 deals were executed.

    The weighted average yield on the 91-day T-bills fell to 8.332% compared to the previous weeks 8.526. Central Bank of Kenya received bids worth KES 15.98 Bn. for the KES 4 Bn. on offer. KES 6.61 billion shillings was accepted.
