Safaricom Launches New Strategy, No Expiry Bundles

Safaricom has unveiled a new strategy as the telco marked 19 years since it was launched. Under the new approach, the telco aims to simplify its products across its entire operations. The plan revolves around a customer-centric approach to cost and transparency, allowing one to adjust their spending on data and voice plans.

Speaking at the 19th birthday, CEO Michael Joseph said the strategy provides a unique opportunity to re-evaluate the telco’s operations to ensure that they remain relevant.

“Today, we are starting afresh, and going forward, we aim to be even more Simple, Transparent, and Honest in everything that we do. For our customers, we are a Safaricom that is there, For You,” said Michael Joseph in an event commemorating Safaricom’s 19th birthday.

Henceforth, Safaricom’s services will follow the mantra “Simple, Transparent and Honest” to guide service provision.

Safaricom’s new data and voice bundles will cease to expire, allowing a customer to use a plan to depletion. Moreover, Safaricom will offer 50% extra airtime for calls and SMS.

“For calls and SMS, we are offering 50 percent extra airtime, which can be used to call and text across all networks,” added the Safaricom CEO.

    Simple

The telco also announced plans to reorganize its shops across the country to provide a more personalized experience to customers. Safaricom will now serve its customers in under five minutes in both call centers and shops. Furthermore, the call centers will call back customers if need be.

    Honest and Transparent.

Subscribers can monitor and stop premium services that consume airtime. This is through the revamped *100# menu, which will help customers suspend airtime consumption when they run out of data.

“In one place, you will be able to view and stop any premium services that consume your airtime and stop any promotional messages,” Joseph went on.

Starting 1st November 2019, new customers joining the network will get SIM cards for free at Safaricom shops and dealer outlets. Customers will also have the freedom to choose a number of their choice when they purchase a new line.

Michael Joseph promised other innovations which include extending Mpesa products as well as offering affordable plans for 4G phones.
