Tech company Craft Silicon is piloting a generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot linked to banking core systems able to answer different financial related queries in both English and local languages.

    • •Known as Small Talk, the Craft Silicon AI will be take questions from users once they are logged on mobile banking apps, giving responses on account balances, saving tips and any other related financial concerns.
    • •Chatbots have changed how human being interact with technology and how various industries operate.
    • •Craft Silicon CEO Kamal Budhabhatti revealed the AI innovation at the 2025 Sacco Summit in Nairobi which brought together c-suite managers from across the East African region.

“The user interface common with the current AI chatbots today mostly give options of typing the query to a computer for response on a particular subject, our forecast indicates future interaction with the technology is going to be through voice,” Budhabbati told The Kenyan Wall Street in an interview.

“Once you start interacting with technology through the voice, you automatically knock down costs such as training which was common with the traditional technology especially trainings on new products,” he adds.

The chatbot is the latest in Craft Silicon’s innovations, which include the ride hailing company Little Limited.
