Consumer lobby appeals against ruling to annul rate cap law

The Consumer Federation of Kenya (COFEK) has appealed against High court’s decision to annul the law on interest rate caps. Cofek was listed as an interested party in the petition brought to court by Boniface Oduor in 2016.

Part of the notice of appeal read, “Consumer Federation of Kenya….being dissatisfied with part of judgment of Justices Tuiyot, Kamau, & Ngetich, JJ, delivered at the High Court of Kenya on the 14th March 2019 intends to appeal to the Court of appeal against the said judgment…”

Consumer Federation of Kenya is an independent, non-profit organization that was registered on 26th March 2010. According to information on its website, the federation “…works towards a fair, just and safe marketplace for all Kenyan and regional consumers in all sectors of the economy.”
