Colombian Fintech Minka Partners with Banks, Financial Institutions, and Regulators Across Africa to Boost Financial Connectivity

November 19, 2024 — Minka, a prolific Colombian fintech startup, today announced a groundbreaking series of partnerships with banks, financial institutions, and regulators across key African economies. Following the company’s July 2024 announcement of its plans to expand into Africa, Minka is actively partnering with firms in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Cameroon, to create a more interconnected, transparent, and trustworthy financial ecosystem across the continent.

Minka’s African expansion underscores the company’s commitment to driving greater financial inclusion and efficiency across Africa’s rapidly growing digital economies. Minka’s proprietary technology enables real-time clearing and settlement infrastructure, making transactions faster, more transparent, and more secure. In Africa, Minka is tailoring its platform to meet the needs of both formal and informal financial systems, providing essential connectivity to millions of previously underserved individuals and businesses.

“We’re thrilled to work with an impressive network of African partners to enhance financial interoperability across the continent,” said Domagoj Rozic, CEO of Minka. “By collaborating with these institutions, we aim to facilitate seamless, cost-effective financial transactions, empowering African economies and their people with more efficient financial infrastructure.“

The partnerships span regulatory authorities, established banks, and emerging financial institutions across the continent. Together, Minka and its partners aim to leverage shared technology and local expertise to enhance the speed and transparency of financial services for millions.

In Kenya, Minka’s solutions can play a substantial role in addressing fundamental issues within the country’s financial sector which led its greylisting earlier this year, while in Nigeria, Minka is partnering with key players to drive a shift towards digital payments. In Uganda and Cameroon, Minka aims to work with regulators to address gaps in financial connectivity and broaden access to modern payment solutions.

Minka’s African expansion is focused on building connections between economies, businesses, and individuals through accessible, innovative technology.

As part of its strategic roadmap, Minka plans to expand its partnerships to additional markets across the continent. This initial phase, however, represents a critical step forward in bridging the gap between Africa’s financial systems and its population’s growing need for secure, accessible, and efficient digital payment options.
