The Capital Markets Authority has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Certified Investments and Financial Analysts (ICIFA).

According to the CMA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Paul Muthaura the partnership will help in the development of a pool of professionals among capital markets practitioners and investments analysts.

Ms. Diana Muriuki the ICIFA CEO stated that it will help in enhancing the professional development of Investments and Financial Analysts and other capital markets industry players in Kenya.

The practitioners will be taught through the Securities Industry Certification program.

CMA and ICIFA plan to host joint events including training sessions. Other collaborations include workshops, seminars, joint conferences, and training sessions.

Employees in the financial markets sector are required to take part in the Continuing Professional Development program in order to maintain and develop their knowledge.

The workers are required to undertake at least 35 hours of CPD annually. The CPD program took effect on the 7th of August 2019. CMA requires compliance with the CPD requirements by 31st December 2020.
