City Hall Revenues Decline by 16%

City Hall Revenues Decline by 16%

A report tabled before county assembly states that City Hall collected about KSh 1.49 billion in three months to September. This was a 16% decline from revenues collected in a similar period in 2018/19.

In the period under review, city hall collected KSh 648 million from parking, rates and single business permits. This was against a target of KSh 1.3 billion.

The decline in revenue comes after City Hall introduced a new internal system to collect levies and fees. This led to a termination of the contract Nairobi County had with Jambopay.

Lack of information to revenue payers led to a dip in the amount of revenue collected by the City Council officials.

In early June and July, motorists parked for free. This was due to technical hitches in the new system thus losing millions of shillings in revenue everyday.
