GeoPoll has released the Media Measurement Report with audience statistics for the top Television and radio stations over the 3-month period from October to December 2017.
According to the findings, radio listeners tune to Radio Citizen throughout the day. The radio station gets the highest number of listeners between 4pm and 6pm with an average rating of 5.3.
Radio Maisha is the second station in ratings while Jambo and Inooro compete for the third position while Kiss FM, an English station, comes fifth. Kiss FM competes with Kiswahili radio stations that have traditionally dominated the space.
GeoPoll also recorded the average share for Q417 where Radio Citizen is leading with a share of 15 percent followed by Radio Maisha at 12 percent. Jambo and Kiss FM have a share of 7 percent followed by Classic 105 and Milele FM at 6 and 5 percent respectively.
People listening to other stations that broadcast across the country at the regional level represents the remaining 38 percent share.
With regards to TV stations, GeoPoll analysed the daily data from the Media Measurement Service to find the top TV stations with the highest ratings during the peak hours of 19:00 to 21:30.
The findings indicate that Citizen TV attracts the most viewers at 9pm with an average rating of 9.2 while KTN and NTV compete for the second position. Additionally, Citizen TV has the largest audience share of 27 percent whole KTN and KTN News have an audience share of 13 percent and 12 percent respectively. NTV ranks fourth with an audience share of 11 percent.
