CIB Bank Kenya has appointed Tirus Mwithiga as its new CEO, taking over from Abhinav Nehra, who was appointed to the role in April 2024.
- •Mwithiga's term will start in February 2026, subject to approval from the central banks of Kenya and Egypt.
- •Prior to his appointment, Mwithiga served as Group Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, at NCBA, which he joined in May 2020 as Group Director, Retail Banking.
- •Mwithiga also spent nearly two decades in Barclays Bank (now Absa), and more than a decade at Standard Chartered Bank.
"Mwithiga brings over 35 years of extensive banking experience, with a distinguished career across the Kenyan financial sector . He is a qualified Chartered Banker with an MBA from Bangor University, United Kingdom," the lender said in a statement on Thursday.
