Chris Diaz becomes first Kenyan and African to win Markie Marketing Award

Brand Kenya director Chris Diaz has become the first Kenyan and African to win the Markie Ward, an international competition that recognises excellence in marketing.

Chris won the Markie Award for 2017 under the Modern Marketing Leader of the Year category for his leadership role in campaigns for national carrier Kenya Airways, beating entrants from all global regions to emerge top in this category.

Chris was recognised for crafting and executing digital marketing strategies using Oracle Marketing Could at a gala that was held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Kenya and Africa have shown that we can not only compete with global best but can also lead the world in digital marketing campaigns through this award. With a young and tech-savvy population, Africa is indeed poised to win more recognition for digital marketing strategies. This award is for Kenya and Africa,” said Chris while receiving the award.

The annual Markie Awards recognize the top companies and leaders for creative, innovative, and effective modern marketing campaigns that delivered increased engagement, conversation and ROI.
