The China-Russia east-route natural gas pipeline has kick-started its operations. It is the first natural gas pipeline between China and Russia. It is also the first cross-border gas pipeline in northeast China.
The pipeline spans across a total of 8,111 kilometres, with 5,111 kilometres on the Chinese part and 3,000 kilometres on the Russian part respectively.
Once in full operation, the project will have the ability to pump 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia to China each year.
As reported by Xinhua News, China may be able to receive an estimated 100,000 tons of Russia-produced LPG by early 2020.
In 2014, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and Russia’s Gazprom signed a 30-year, $400 billion gas supply deal. The construction kicked off in June 2015 and will be completed in 2020.
