As we mark International Women’s Day, the Kenyan Wall Street had the privilege of speaking to Sharon Kinyanjui, East and Central Africa Regional Head at WorldRemit, a leading digital online money transfer service with headquarters in London.
She speaks about her experience as a woman business leader in tech, how she balances the demands of the job with her quest for personal fulfilment and tips for other women in demanding but rewarding careers.
Over the past two decades, she has built a distinguished corporate career that includes management roles at several multinationals as well as an academic detour, earning her MBA from the Manchester Business School.
But the past few years, she admits, have been the most interesting. They have come with exciting lessons. WorldRemit has given her a platform to be part of a new generation of women business leaders in technology, a fast-evolving and competitive space that is still in some ways unwelcoming for women.
