Urysia Ltd., the longtime distributor of Peugeot vehicles in Kenya, has expanded into a three-brand dealership with the addition of Jeep and Citroën, marking one of the most significant portfolio shifts in the country’s automotive retail market this year.
- •The initial showroom lineup includes the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Gladiator; Citroën’s C3, C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross; and Peugeot’s existing range.
- •Urysia is also adding financing partnerships with banks and leasing options for corporate clients, part of a broader strategy to lift unit sales and increase customer retention.
- •The move aligns Urysia with Stellantis, the global automaker formed from the merger of PSA Groupe and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which has been consolidating its African distribution footprint around multi-brand partners.
“Our new business strategy allows us to serve every segment, whether it’s lifestyle adventurers, family buyers, fleet operators, SMEs or ride-hailing drivers. This is the future of mobility retail in Kenya, and Urysia intends to lead it,” said Urysia Managing Director, Claude Mwende.
The Nairobi-based automotive dealer has expanded its showroom to accommodate the new models and plans to offer full after-sales support and manufacturer-approved parts for all three marques.
The dealer is also building out its service infrastructure, including fully equipped Nairobi centres, a wider network of partner workshops and mobile service support designed to reduce downtime for fleet operators and high-usage drivers.
The expanded portfolio is aimed at diversifying revenue streams across retail buyers, SMEs, corporate fleets and ride-hailing customers segments that have reshaped Kenya’s vehicle-purchase patterns over the past decade.
“Customers today want more than a car — they want convenience, reliability and choice. By bringing together Peugeot, Jeep and Citroën under one umbrella, we are creating a dealership experience that is versatile, customer-centric and globally competitive,” Mwende said.
By tying its future to Stellantis, Urysia gains access to a pipeline of global vehicle platforms, including models with lower emissions and EV-ready architectures. While Kenya’s electric-vehicle sector remains small, dealers are positioning to participate as infrastructure and policy improve.
