The Board of Directors of insurance underwriter, Britam, has appointed Jackson Theuri as the new Chief Executive Officer of Britam General Insurance Company Limited.
Theuri, who joined the firm two years ago as the Chief Operating Officer, has been the Acting CEO for the past nine months. He is a seasoned business leader with working experience in strategy, governance, operations, finance, insurance, audit and consulting.
Prior to joining Britam, Theuri was the Group CEO, Harvard Africa. He has also been Deputy Group Managing Director-General Insurance at UAP-Old Mutual as well as Group Chief Finance Officer, UAP Holdings and Senior Manager, PwC Kenya and UK.
Theuri, who has had a stint as director of several firms, is a holder of MBA in Global Business Management from United States International University (USIU). He is also in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting option) from Kenyatta University as is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Britam General Insurance is a unit within the Britam Group that also has Life Assurance, Asset Management, Microinsurance and Property Business. General insurance or non-life insurance unit provides cover for motor, property, medical and homeowners.
Theuri replaces Mrs Margaret Kathanga who left as CEO of Britam General Insurance in October last year after 13 years at the helm of the unit, to pursue personal interests.
Britam Group which has presence in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Mozambique and Malawi.
