Brenda Mbathi Appointed as CEO of Two Rivers International Finance Innovation Centre (TRIFIC)

Two Rivers International Finance & Innovation Centre (TRIFIC) has appointed Brenda Mbathi as its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This strategic appointment comes as TRIFIC, a fully-owned subsidiary of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) listed Centum Investment Company Plc, prepares to transform into a vibrant Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and investors’ gateway of choice in Africa.

Brenda Mbathi brings a wealth of experience to her new role as CEO of TRIFIC. Prior to this appointment, she served as the President & CEO of General Electric (GE) East Africa, accumulating over three decades of experience in various fields. Her recent focus on general management, government affairs & public policy, as well as sustainability and inclusion, equity & diversity, uniquely positions her to steer TRIFIC toward becoming a world-class investment hub.

Dr. James Mworia, CEO of the Centum Investment Company Group, expressed his confidence in Brenda’s leadership, stating, “Brenda has the skills and vast experience to transform TRIFIC into an investment hub of international repute, she will get our full backing to this noble task.” The strategic vision for TRIFIC is to emerge as a beacon of opportunity for investors, both domestic and international, and Brenda Mbathi is entrusted with turning this vision into reality.

Upon her appointment, Brenda Mbathi expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I’m excited to be part of the TRIFIC story; this Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has all the ingredients to become a world-class investment hub, and we’ll put all our efforts into making this happen.” Her commitment to the success of TRIFIC is palpable, and her leadership is expected to drive transformative changes.

In addition to Brenda Mbathi’s appointment as CEO, TRIFIC also welcomes Justus Kariuki Mate as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Mr. Kariuki brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as the Executive Vice President at Tatu City, a private SEZ located in Kiambu County. His tenure at Tatu City saw him spearhead the operationalization of the zone, making him a valuable addition to TRIFIC’s executive team.
