Bolt To Provide Financing to Drivers in Africa

On his first visit to Kenya, Kenyan Wallstreet met up with Bolt CEO and Co-Founder, Markus Villig, to talk about Bolt’s strategic shift across key markets in Africa and Europe.

In a change of strategy in Africa, Bolt will offer financing to drivers in Africa. Markus says that the goal is to grow their driver-partners from the current hundred thousands to millions across Africa. He opines that the move will enable Bolt to provide affordable transport for the growing African population. For instance, Markus says that around 10 million passengers have used Bolt across Africa with the number expected to rise to tens of millions in the coming years.

Furthermore, Markus remains optimistic that Kenyan regulation is pro-innovation that enable start-ups and tech companies to innovate and develop new products.

In Europe, Markus says that the strategic shift will focus on rolling new product offering such as Delivery and courier services.

Commenting on Series C funding received in late 2019, Markus said the firm will allocate the funds to future expansion.
