BOC Kenya Appoints Marion Gathoga-Mwangi as New Managing Director

BOC Kenya PLC, a member of global gas supplier Linde Group based in Munich, has named Ms Marion Gathoga-Mwangi as the new managing director after Ms Millicent Onyonyi resigned from the position earlier this year. The new MD will begin her duties on July 16, 2018.

Ms Onyonyi was appointed in April 2016 replacing Maria Msiska had worked for the company for slightly over five years. Ms Onyonyi had formerly worked as Oil Libya’s retail coordinator before her appointment by BOC Kenya.

“The board takes this opportunity to welcome and congratulate Ms Marion Gathoga-Mwangi on her new appointment,” the notice read in part.

Ms Marion formerly headed the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA). She has also worked as country director of Cadbury Kenya and East Africa Limited and the general manager of Unga Limited.

According to the announcement, Ms Marion is a “senior executive with over 20 years of local and international experience in commercial and general management predominantly in the manufacturing sector.”

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration from the United States International University (USIU).

BOC Kenya posted declining earnings with a 56 per cent drop in profits in 2017 to Sh39 million from Sh126 million in 2016. The drop was as a result of competition from low-cost imported gases for the local industry, welding, and hospitals.
