The government is set to start a fresh registration exercise of persons living in Kenya in a bid to to help in the social and security planning in the country.
Cabinet Secretary for ICT Joe Mucheru says the registration will run for 3 months and will capture personal information of Kenyans as well as their physical locations.
The exercise will be conducted with the assistance of thousands of enumerators and the local administrators.
State agencies in the country like the Kenya Revenue Authority, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission as well as the National Transport and Safety Authority are repositories of personal information of millions of Kenyans.
Mucheru reiterates that the information collected will be accorded top security to avoid a data breach and misuse of secured public information.
