    Banks main drivers of activity at NSE

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh.265.9Million transacted which accounted for 54.86per cent of Thursday’s traded value.

    Equity Group Holdings had 2.8M shares valued at KSh.150M at between KSh.52.00 and KSh.53.50. KCB Group up fifty cents to KSh.53.00 moved 1.4M shares valued at KSh.77.8M.

    NCBA Group moved 443,000 shares worth KSh. 15M and closed at KSh.34.20.

    Market turnover rose to KSh.484Million from Wednesday’s KSh.407Million, the number of shares traded stood at 15Million against 13.8Million posted on Wednesday.

    INDICES

    The NSE 20 share Index was down 7.09 points to stand at 2565.92. All Share Index NASI was up 2.09 points to stand at 162.62. The NSE 25 Share index added 35.70 points to settle at 3993.77.

    The Commercial & Services sector had shares worth 12.3Million traded & accounted for 2.54% of the day’s traded value. Scangroup up five cents to KSh.16.70 moved 712,000 shares valued at KSh.11.9Million.

    The Insurance sector had shares worth 9.59Million traded & accounted for 1.98% of the day’s traded value. Kenya-Re moved 1.9Million shares worth KSh.5.4Million and closed at KSh.2.85.

    The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares worth 41Million traded & accounted for 8.50% of the day’s traded value.

    E.A Breweries moved 177,000 shares worth KSh.34m and closed at KSh.193.00. B.A.T closed the day 3.91% lower to KSh.461.25 moving 14,000 shares worth KSh.6.8Million.

    Safaricom actively moved 4.8Million shares valued at KSh.150.5Million at between KSh.30.20 and KSh.31.10; this represented 31.07per cent of the day’s traded value.

    The Bond market had bonds worth KSh.1.1Billion transacted.
