    Banking Stocks dominate a subdued NSE

    Daily Market Report; Nov 11 2019

    The NSE 20 share Index was down 20.30 points to stand at 2697.56. All Share Index NASI shed 2.03 points to stand at 158.96. The NSE 25 Share index lost 39.96 points to settle at 3917.47.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth Sh.554 million transacted which accounted for 83.40per cent of the day’s traded value.

    Diamond Trust Bank was the day’s main feature with 2.7million shares valued at Sh.316million changing hands at between Sh.115.00 and Sh.127.00.

    Equity Group Holdings down 1.94per cent to Sh 48.50 moved 3.3million shares valued at Sh.160 million. KCB Group moved 1.2M shares worth Sh 61million and closed at Sh.49.75.

    In the Derivatives Market, the Safaricom contract expiring in 19th December 2019 moved 6 contracts valued at Sh.174, 000.

    In the spot Market, the bourse opened the week with a total of 14million shares valued at KSh 664 million, against 10million shares valued at KSh342 million on Friday.

    Insurance

    The Insurance sector had shares worth KSh9.2million traded & accounted for 1.39% of the day’s traded value. Kenya-Re moved 1.6million shares valued at Sh 5million at a fairly stable price of KSh.3.10. Sanlam unchanged at KSh.17.00 moved 107,000 shares worth KSh.1.8million.

    Telecommunication

    Safaricom had 3.2m shares valued at KSh.95 million transacted at between KSh.28.00 and KSh.29.85; this represented 14.36per cent of the day’s traded value.

    The Bond market had bonds worth KSh2.6 billion transacted.
