A Nairobi Anti-Corruption Court has issued a warrant of arrest against Kenya’s Ex-Finance Minister David Mwiraria after he failed to turn up in court to take plea over the Anglo-Leasing scandal.This is the second time the former finance Minister failed to appear in court.
Earlier, Mr Mwiraria had asked to be excused saying he was feeling unwell but The court made the ruling after a doctor’s report indicated that Mr Mwiraria can stand trial.
He is charged alongside Kisii Senator Chris Obure,former Transport and Communication Permanent Secretary Sammy Kyungu, former Postmaster General Francis Chahonyo and former Finance secretary Samuel Bundotich have been charged with irregularly authorizing Anglo-Leasing payments.Mr Mwiraria is among 10 people charged with conspiracy to defraud the government of billions of shillings through dubious security contracts.
