Amazon announced on Monday plans to sell the cashierless, no check-out line system to other retailers.
Marketed as ‘Just Walk Out’, the system utilizes ceiling-mounted cameras and shelf weight sensors to track shoppers movement around a store. Once done with shopping, the customer walks out without the need to queue or pay at the cashier. The systems automatically bills the shopper’s account and emails the receipt.
Amazon operate 26 cashierless stores across United States since launching in December 2016.
Amazon will offer installation services and provide 24/7 support, a product offering similar to the Amazon Web Services where the e-commerce giant built cloud computing technology for its own purposes, then sold it to others.
