The Ministry of tourism and wildlife and Alibaba Group through its cloud-computing arm are set to collaborate on a strategy to deploy cloud computing technology to help in wildlife protection in Kenya.
The first face of the collaboration project is expected to take place in a section of the Tsavo National Park at a designated area of the expansive park.
The project in Tsavo is only the first step in exploring the partnership between Alibaba and the Kenyan Government and will see the parties explore using a wide range of features connected to Alibaba Cloud’s IoT platform.
Animal tracking sensors, infra-red trap cameras, smart weather stations, ranger devices and wide-area drones are among the technologies that will be considered to be installed to collect real-time data of the movements and general health of the animals.
