Algeria’a President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has terminated the duties of Central Bank Governor Mohamed Laksaci and has replaced him with Mohamed Loukal who held the position of CEO of BEA (Exterior Bank of Algeria).
The Governor has been under pressure from ruling party critics over his management of fall-out from the global oil price drop, two government sources said.. ” Laksaci is one of the disasters of the national economy . He is responsible for the devaluation of the currency Algerian , he is partly responsible for the economic situation in the country, ” including accused Amar Saadani March 29 in an interview with ASD.
” The Bank of Algeria has never been managed by Laksaci but by a retired general . We are not with Laksaci since he betrayed the trust of President Bouteflika. We want him to resign or for an end to its functions , ” he added.
