    Airtel Kenya sacks 100 Employees

Airtle Kenya, the country’s second largest telecommunications company in terms of market share has sacked 100 employees in a move aimed at “improving efficiencies across the company’s functions with an aim to enhance customer experience.”

In a statement, the company said “As a responsible employer, Airtel is sensitive towards the impacted employees and is committed towards minimizing the impact of this initiative. To assist the affected staff members during the transition, the company will compensate the employees over and above what is prescribed as per the prevailing laws.”

The company also announced that it will provide support to the affected individuals through providing the necessary training required for them to find new opportunities while bearing the full cost of this support service.

In January 2016, the company did a similar exercise whereby it sent home around 60 employees saying the objectives of the restructuring was to create a high-performing organisation which satisfies the needs of stakeholders.
