A sense of calm has returned at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after the lobby group that had threatened to paralyse operations at the aviation hub rescinded the decision.
Kenya Aviation Workers Union asked its members to down their tools today, as they were not consulted on the Kenya Airways’ takeover of Kenya Airport Authority’s management.
KAA said that KAWU’s secretary general Moses Ndiema has agreed for suspension of the strike after a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works James Macharia and Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary general Francis Atwoli.
The strike notice issued on 29 January 2019 will be suspended for a period of 60 days to allow for further deliberations, says KAA.
