Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) and Boeing have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the later to train the airline officials.
ATCL chief executive officer, Mr Ladislaus Matindi, says the training to start soon, will target senior managers, middle managers and supervisors.
Hamza Bunnya, Boeing marketing director for Middle East and Africa says under the MoU, some of the training will be held in the UK and some in Tanzania.
To date the government has purchased nine aircraft including two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. Four more planes, comprising of a 787-8 Dreamliner, a 767-300 Freighter and two 737 MAX jets, all valued at more than $726 million at list prices, are expected to arrive this year.
Air Tanzania is the flag carrier airline of Tanzania, based in Dar es Salaam with its hub at Julius Nyerere International Airport. It currently operates 12 domestic routes, namely Zanzibar, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Geita, Bukoba, Kigoma, Mpanda, Mbeya, Tabora, Dodoma, and Songea.
Internationally, the airline flies to Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Comoros, India, and China.
