Air India Resumes Flights to Nairobi

Air India has relaunched its flights to Nairobi, a move that seeks to boost tourism between the two countries. This comes after the airline’s flight from Mumbai to Nairobi landed on 26th November 2019.

The airline has been absent for the past 10 years.

Following its return, the airline will offer four direct flights per week. These will happen on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The 256-seater Boeing 787-800 plane will fly the new route.

The return of Air India to Kenya will be a big boost to the strong ties the two countries have had. The airline will also help to promote tourism, trade, improve relationships and create opportunities between the two countries.

Kenya Tourism Board CEO, Betty Radier.

Previously, the airline had a codeshare partnership with Kenyan Airways, which operates a daily service between Mumbai and Nairobi.

Air India is the flag carrier airline of India, headquartered at New Delhi. It is owned by Air India Limited, a government-owned enterprise, and operates a fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft serving 94 domestic and international destinations.

The airline has its hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, alongside several focus cities across India. It is the largest international carrier out of India with an 18.6% market share. The airline flies to over 60 international destinations across four continents.
