Samuel Gikandi has been appointed as an independent non-executive director on the boards of Stanbic Holdings Plc and Stanbic Bank Kenya Limited effective 29 June, 2020. His appointment comes a month after appointed the bank named Ory Okolloh as a new independent non-executive director, bringing in a wealth of knowledge in policy and investment.
Mr. Gikandi is the Co-Founder and CEO of Africa’s Talking Group, a pan-African group offering mobile solutions to developers by providing SMS, USSD, voice, airtime, and mobile payments infrastructure. Gikandi’s experience from starting and running a fintech will be instrumental to the bank’s digital push, a key strategy in Kenya’s banking sector.
He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Science with a minor in Economics, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Gikandi’s expertise, skills, and knowledge in information technology will contribute to Stanbic’s digital transformation strategy.
