Africa50, Axion Group and SN Power to Develop Hydro-Power Plant in Madagascar

Africa50 has partnered with colas, Jovena (Axian Group) and SN Power so as to develop a hydro power plant in Madagascar. The project aims at improving the lives of the Malagasy people. It will also support the implementation of the government’s socio-economic agenda.

Commissioning of the project is expected to be done by 2023. It will include a 120MW hydropower plant that will be constructed and operated on the Invodoro river. Access lines will be constructed and access roads and other infrastructure for the neighboring villages will be repaired .

The project is expected to provide reliable and affordable electricity to over two million people. It will enable Madagascar to transition towards renewable energy as well as reduce the cost of electricity. The project will also create up to 1000 job opportunities during construction.

Africa50 and Axian Group CEOs have both expressed their optimism towards the project. Both companies are motivated to provide electricity to the entire Island while protecting the environment by offering sustainable and renewable energy.
