The AfDB (African Development Bank), in conjunction with Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT and Innovation, has signed a $150,000 grant agreement to support the Rwanda Coding Academy.
According to Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT, they will use the funding to acquire computers and furniture, internet connectivity, and organization of career orientation events.
Additionally, they will also use the grant to finance on-job training for their teachers and equip the institution with the necessary tools to facilitate students’ learning experience.
The Rwanda Coding Academy, established in 2019, seeks to develop ICT skills for high school level students who want to pursue a career in coding and computer science. It specializes in teaching cybersecurity, software development, and embedded systems programming.
