The African Development Bank(AfDB) Group will hold its Annual Meetings in Accra, Ghana, between May 23rd and May 27th 2022.
The Bank Group’s most important event is the Annual Meetings which usually attracts close to 3,000 delegates and participants each year.
These meetings enable the AfDB to review and share with its shareholders all progress made. The annual event also offers representatives of academia, media, governments, business, thinktanks and civil society, an opportunity to discuss pertinent issues affecting growth and development in Africa.
This year’s Annual Meetings theme, which is Achieving Climate Resilience and a Just Energy Transition for Africa, has been chosen to provide an opportunity for participants to discuss topics such as climate change and energy transition challenges they face and the policy responses/measures they are employing to deal with them.
Regional Member Countries of AfDB will have the opportunity to discuss the nature of the support they need from global development partners and the estimated cost of building resilience and just energy transition for their economies.
The discussion on building resilience will go beyond climate change to include health, financial, socioeconomic and environmental shocks warranted by the current global context.
The knowledge events organized around the theme will provide forums for exchanging views on strategies, policies, and interventions and promote peer-to-peer learning and solution-oriented policy dialogue for building Africa.
As a precursor to its 2022 Annual Meetings, the African Development Bank Group will hold a press conference on Wednesday, 20th April 2022, at 14.00 GMT.
The press conference will feature Prof. Vincent Nmehielle, Secretary-General of the Bank Group, Dr Kevin Kariuki, Vice President for Power, Energy, Climate and Green Growth and the Group’s Acting Chief Economist and Vice President for Governance and Knowledge Management Pr Kevin Urama, among other vice presidents.
