    Absa Dominates Trading at NSE

    Absa Dominates Trading at NSE

    Absa Bank was the biggest mover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) when trading at the bourse on 8th September, 2020.

    It traded a volume of 4.13 Million shares at between KSh 9.90 and KSh 9.52, resulting in a turnover of KSh 40.64 Million from 84 deals.

    When the market closed, ABSA shares were trading at KSh 9.84, an increase of 1.86% from the previous KSh 9.66

    Other movers included Safaricom which traded a volume of 1.65 Million shares, Kenya Power and Lighting Company( 714,000), Equity Bank(586,200) and Kenya Reinsurance Corporation( 579,400).

    The NSE 20 Share Index was up 0.05% from 1849.64 to 1850.63 while the NSE 25 Share Index declined by 20.39 points from 3186.43 yesterday to 3166.04.

    Also on a fall was the NSE All-Share Index which declined 0.47% from the previous 137.58 to 136.93.

    At the end of trading on 8th September, 2020, Total Equity turnover declined to KSh 177.66 Million on a volume of 10.28 Million transacted in 1,098 deals.

    This is compared to KSh 501.5 Million on Monday 7th September, 2020.

    The top 5 gainers were led by Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) whose share price rose 5.46% to KSh 8.50.

    It was followed by BOC which recorded a price appreciation of 4.27% to KSh 61.00, HFCK up 3.63% to KSh 4.00, Uchumi which climbed 3.33% to 31 cents and Nation Media Group whose share price shot up 3.03% to KSh 18.70.

    The biggest loser was Standard Group whose share price declined by 10% to KSh 20.25.

    The media firm was followed by Umeme Limited, Express Kenya, Flame Tree Group and East African Breweries on the list of most capitalised stocks posting a 5.16% price decline to KSh 164.00 per share.
