The market closed Week 46 of 2025 lower across all major indices, but several large counters posted strong gains.
- •Trading opened the week with heavy flows into consumer names such as BAT which moved to KSh 452.00, its highest level in two years.
- •EABL reached KSh 250.00, a new 52-week high and the strongest level since April 2018, as mid-week activity lifted more blue-chips to new highs: ABSA touched KSh 26.25, setting a fresh all-time record; Car & General rose to KSh 63.00, its highest level since April 2022.
- •I&M Holdings moved up to KSh 46.00, a new all-time high that pushed its valuation to roughly KSh 80B on 1.74B shares outstanding.
Late in the week, Co-operative Bank extended its rally to new all-time highs after reporting a 12% rise in Q3 profit to KSh 21.56B and declaring its first interim dividend. Uchumi continued its sharp move, rising to levels last seen in 2019 as speculative activity stayed high.
- •Foreign investors recorded a net outflow of KSh 387.83M, lower than last week’s KSh 1.06B.
- •Safaricom, KCB, BAT, EABL and Co-operative Bank dominated turnover and made up most of the liquidity for the week.
- •Bond market activity improved. Bond turnover rose 36.46% to KSh 55.88B, while the bond index gained 1.33% to close at 1182.54.
- •Equity turnover eased to KSh 3.61B. Weekly volume was 132.07M shares.
- •Market capitalization dropped 2.41% to KSh 2.96T as all indices ended lower.
