The NSE 20 share Index was down 10.95 points to stand at 1700.88. All Share Index NASI shed 3.82 points to settle at 133.44. The NSE 25 Share Index shaved off 55.44 points to settle at 3106.64.
The top price gainer was Eveready, whose price rose 6.25% from KSh 0.80 to KSh 0.85, while the worst performer was Centum, whose price declined by 6.995 from KSh 11.45 to KSh 10.65.
The NSE Derivatives Market had a total of 16 contracts valued at KSh 529,000 transacted in Thursday’s trading session.
The Safaricom Single Stock Futures contract expiring on 16th June 2022 traded 8 contracts valued at KSh 228,000 at a price of KSh 28.50. This is against a closing price of KSh 28.05 posted by Safaricom in the spot market.
The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh198 m transacted, which accounted for 62.31% of the day’s traded value.
NCBA Group was the day’s biggest mover, with 5.6m shares valued at KSh149m, changing hands between KSh 26.00 and KSh26.60. KCB Group, unchanged at KSh35.00, moved 889,000 shares valued at KSh 31m. Stanbic Holdings moved 55,000 shares valued at KSh 5.68m and closed at KSh103.00.
The Construction & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh 1.1m traded, representing 0.36% of the day’s traded value. Bamburi Cement sold 29,000 shares valued at KSh 1m between KSh 36.50 and KSh 36.95.
The Investment sector had shares valued at KSh2m traded, representing 0.69% of the day’s traded value. Centum closed 6.99% lower to KSh11.45 on a volume of 201,000 shares valued at KSh 2m.
The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh 5.2m traded, representing 1.63% of the day’s traded value. E.A Breweries moved 31,000 shares worth KSh 4.4m at a fairly stable price of KSh140.00.
Safaricom declined by 4.75% to KSh 28.05, down from KSh 29.45 registered the previous session with shares worth KSh 108m transacted; this represented 33.97% of the day’s traded value.
The Bond market had bonds worth KSh 2.7 billion transacted.
