Through its subsidiary Spruce Properties Limited Liability Partnership, Acorn Holdings has launched the construction of its KSh1.9 billion student accommodation hostels in Nairobi’s Karen under the Qwetu and Qejani brands.
The 3,591 room-hostels will stand on a 5-acre plot comprising nine residential blocks, will be ready for occupancy by the end of next year.
Acorn hostels to accommodate 10,000 students
These hostels will accommodate about 10,000 students from JKUAT Karen Campus, Catholic University of East Africa, Cooperative University, Kenya School of Law and other institutions around the area.
The hostels aim to provide safe, secure and affordable accommodation to students, with charges expected to range between KSh 15,000 and KSh 16,500 for a room on the premium Qwetu Brand and between KSh 7,500 to KSh 12,500 for the Qejani brand.
Other upcoming projects by Acorn include the KSh 810 Million Nairobi West Qwetu hostels targeting Strathmore University, the KSh 880 Million Qwetu 3 and KSh 740.0 Million Qwetu 4 developments targeting United States International University Africa (USIU Africa), all set for completion in 2021.
